The Manila International Container Terminal (MICT) is expected to reopen Thursday, July 17.Typhoon Rammasun, also know as Typhoon Glenda has caused local flooding and damage. Many businesses have been without power and communication. Port congestion is expected to continue for several days.

The Philippines are preparing for Typhoon Rammasun, also known as Typhoon Glenda to make landfall on July 16. The UniGroup Relocation office in Manila has reported port closures due to the storm’s anticipated landfall. The area has already experienced high winds and are bracing for floods and landslides. The Manila International Container Terminal (MICT) has suspended operations and anticipates reopening late Wednesday, July 16.

The International Longshore and Warehouse Union's current contract expired on July 1, 2014. The Union and representatives of the West coast port owners, Pacific Maritime Association (PMA), have had discussions earlier this year. According to ocean carriers and the trade press, the issues in the current negotiation involve continuing health care coverage and retirement plans. The ILWU and the PMA have agreed to not negotiate this contract in the press, so limited information is available concerning progress or lack of progress.
